Foundations are a set of Guides that contain a basic, bare bones layout or idea that can be used to build a more complex idea on top of. These guides are built in our new Guide Engine and are available through the new link in the menu bar above.

Have you ever thought about how the phrase "Why reinvent the wheel?" applies to design and craft? Have you ever found yourself repeating layouts or ideas because they feel good once they are on paper? We are here to tell you that it's not a bad thing to repeat tried and true techniques.

In fact, we want to build upon that idea, like a foundation. We are going to move our lessons in the direction of using Foundations as a guiding principle to build and design on. But, you might ask: "What are foundations?"

Scrapbook Labs feature a Foundation + Extended guide each week. Each lesson will detail how to extend and build on a Foundational concept and create a more complex final product using different techniques and tricks. These guides will be available after the live stream on the Lessons page linked from the Guides tab.

Cards+ Labs might not always feature a Foundation, but if it does, we will link the guide on the Lesson page after the live stream.

On top of all of this, we will be adding new Foundations all the time. Students can use the Foundations Library to source ideas for projects outside of the scope of just lessons.
